Today I got quite a shock. I have been hearing faint sounds, like a kitten meowing, for 2 or 3 days. Searched but found nothing. Today it was loud. In searching again, this time, over an hour I found the tiniest kitten, ever..at least to me. He is light apricot with bright blue eyes and a meow that is deafning for his six inch body. I know he must be scared half to death. I'm hand feeding him with a syringe and bits of tuna. He is in one of my bathtubs with food, a tiny box of litter and a soft blanket. A trip to the vet in the morning. Anyone know what else to do? He's understandably spazing out. Think it will stop?

I just got my daughter a kitten a month ago, who will turn a year old next month. He was selected, because he was calm. Can I help to calm down the kitten? I think he would not have lived if he was not gotten out, today. People were so helpful as it tok my neighbor and 2 others to help me get him out. The girly girl that i am I was crawling on a platic covered crawl space after seeing his fright and small size.

I'm sure his strong will saved his life. Gosh, he's cute, but geesh..loud. PLEASE THERE HAS TO BE SOMEONE WITH A KNOWLEDGE OF CATS! It looks like his eyes are newly opened, though he does have tiny teeth.
I'd love to keep him! flowerforyou

If U can help, would so appreciate!

He is probably just really scared and missing his mother. Have you introduced him to your other cat? I would back off the tuna if his eyes are just open. They have really sensitive stomachs. The vet will tell ya what all to do, but the other cat might make him feel less lonely.

No, as far as to the other cat, til he gets tested for feline Aids and Lukemia, in the morning. Then I will. I'll go get some canned stuff and see if they have supplimental milk. This was not really in my plans, and never had one this tiny, but I think you're right. When I hold him he seems to be searching for his mommy, poor thing.

He is so very cute. I need to get a cd of pictures of him. :)

Thank you very much!flowerforyou

I hope your feeding him with the stuff from the pet store, not milk...

Your other cat may act as a mother...

You should maybe be careful with the other cat ... i've always heard that male cats will eat kittens ?

I'd look in your crawl spaces under your home in the near future, as a stray might have given birth in there. Look for any openings or other things that might lead into the house.

The kitten might have been out exploring while mommy cat was out searching for food when it you found it. Chances are that said mommy cat probably abandoned the kitten when she either couldn't find it or help it. Either way, it looks like you now have two cats to care for.

And yeah- I'd make sure the new kitten was tested for feline leukemia and FIV before you try to intermingle it with your other cat. And -if the kitten has tested negative for both diseases- it'd best behoove you to get said kitten vaccinated and spayed/neutered when it gets old enough.

Chances are that there won't much in the way of trouble, being that both are kittens- you probably WOULD have trouble if you were dealing with adult cats, as they tend to get rather territorial.

Try looking for a kitten feeding kit at your local pet store, like Petsmart or Petco. They'll have such things as kitten formula, a feeding syringe, and some other things needed to tend to a young cat.

Kittens are surprisingly good survivors.

Here's another example-

Back about four or five years ago, my dad and I were on our way to see a movie we had done some pyro for (the cheap bastards producing the show didn't even see fit to get us free tickets grumble ). Along the way, ol' pop needed to stop off to get some gas.

So we exit the 405 freeway at Victory Blvd. and hit the Arco (if I remember correctly) on the corner, where we proceed to fill up the gas tank.

As we're getting ready to leave the gas station, I notice a smallish black thing crossing Victory Blvd. (in heavy traffic, mind you). I call out for the pop to stop, and I jump out of the car in trying to find out what it was. That black mass had run under the car, so I stooped down to see what it was.

It was a kitten, about a couple of weeks old. It was a longhair, black with white stripe going down the stomach. And it was unconscious.

I pick the thing up and we rush to the closest Vet Hospital we can find. As we're hauling ass to get there, the kitten stops breathing. I start lightly squeezing its stomach to get it to breathe, but I'm thinking it's probably been hit by a car or something and is on its way "out".

But then it starts to shake itself back into the land of the living. And just in time too, as we've pulled into the Vet Hospital at this point.

We were hailed as "heroes" by some of the pet owners at the hospital, and I was even kissed on the lips by one of the Vet employees (a rather pretty young Phillie who kinda looked like Lindsay from "The Real World: Seattle" for those who know of the show).

Awww....keep him in a very small, confined space. Give him time to adjust and get used to it. Keep him warm. I would call a shelter to ask what it is best to feed him at this age.....

Take the cat to a veterinarian. Why do you look like you have to pee in your photo?

Why do you? Is your prostrate ticking? Okay that is 2 who said that. I was laughing. Men!, I could comment on pictures but I don't. I am taking the cat to a vet. Most vets are booked liked doctors. Morning the testing will come about. I appreciate all who answered in a helpful manner. flowerforyou

Thank you. He's wigging out so I will pay for his testing but he has to calm down a bit. I'm seriously hoping it isn't rabies. It is out of control. He scratched my neighbor, even. I'm wearing utility gloves to go feed him, in a minute. This last feeding had me exhausted and I've had cat scartch fever once before. I was told not to get it again, well oh chet! This is not good for my child..he's really adorably cute, though. I'll look up the URL and pray for kitty valium. Crazy little fragment of a cat. He bites and scratches and gets all paws going at once.

I just read up on Feral cats and the taming there of. Must be his problem. Each bite is serious...oh snap! Not good. I'll try working with him, though.
