with all the horrible things going on around the world right now with natural disasters, it got me thinking about donating my time...does anyone do charity work? if so, what do you do?

I tried to volunteer for 2 different organizations that didn't quite happen. One of them was for a hospice, and they wanted me to train on the days I go to church, so I refused. The other was for a mentoring program for at risk youth, and the contact never called me back.
I did volunteer for a food bank to put meals together in December and that worked out great. |

Ive gone to Nicaragua to build houses three times, i volunteer to tutor kids on a regular basis, and teach kds how to play insruments.....

I had a complete breakdown when I was 23...I used to tutor hs age kids that had problems like that. Sometimes they just need to know that someone else has been there and done that.. I also volunteer at a veterans clinic...

i helped at a home for pregnant teens, i enjoyed getting to know all the girls and their babies
and i am going to a World Poverty Awareness Rally in June

I used to be a volunteer in a food pantry. I was also a volunteer Probation Officer for a few years.

I think I'll be doing my part when I become a teacher. Getting paid **** to shape young minds counts as a type of charity right? Ha ha.
