were in love with the same person how would you go about things? Assume this person is oblivious to the fact you both are in love with him/her, and that this person hasn't shown interest or disinterest in either of you.

So if I think the girl is hot but he's totally into her, I'll back off. However, if I think she might be the one and he's just hot for her and any other girl out there, then I'll push to get the girl. I've been fortunate that my friends and I never had the same tastes in women, plus we respect one another enough not to "drink another man's kool aid"

Well, I'd leave it to him to do the research, unless my best friend was a she, and not a he. In that case, she could my my scout to make sure that well, the person she was in love with didn't swing both ways. Now, if my best friend was done with her, and I felt particularly stupid, I would then date that woman and let the Jerry Springer show know what we'd been up to. Seriously, I'd likely get out of their way and move on to greener pastures.

Been in that position before, I walked away. He seemed more interested in her, but found out later he wasn't, so I lost out but oh well.

HA!!! My best friend and I do not have the same taste, thank goodness!! Her taste in men are not even close to what I would like and the same goes for my taste in men to her. Actually, this would never happen because we live by the UNSPOKEN RULE OF THE BEST FRIENDS!!! If I happen to like someone, she doesn't even look twice at them...and of course I pay her the same respect!! You know what they say..Men come and go, but best friends last forever
