A LOT of not most of Hawking's foundation came from the theories and findings of Einstein. Einstein's inspiration came from others before him. Copernicus, Galileo, Da Vinci. Who's to say? Tesla, Edison, Curie, they were all genuises in their own right. Without giving the guy in the wheelchair and the dead guy IQ tests, how would you know? Furthermore, once you reach that level of brilliance, an IQ point here or there really doesn't count.
