I am not sure it qualifies as a concert but it would have to be seeing Jon Brion at Largo in L.A.
It was him alone on stage and he played every instrument. First he would play one and then set it on a loop and then move to the next and so on. He wouldnt do that for every song but when he did by the time he picked up his guitar to start the song it was exhilerating.
The time I saw him was days after Elliot Smith died both Brion and the audience was emotional. Apparently Brion and Smith were close friends.
There was one rendition of Under Pressure he played as the audience sang, and I was blown away because the audience sang perfectly, some singing lead while others maintained tempo "Oooh la la la". I cried it was so great.
It was intimate and wonderful and I think because Brion performs there regularly he has a close connection with the audience members.
I suggest, if you can, go seeing him. I hope he still performs there.
