i think your past says a lot about who you are... and why you are... so yea

It is important, but after you reach a certain place in your relationship.Maybe not all of it, but some, because as others said, it made you who you are today and will define part of who you will be in the future as well.

It takes time for someone to learn your whole life story, if they stick around long enough, they'll learn it as needed...along with a lot of stuff that they NEVER needed.

I think that if a man doesn't want to know anything about your past at all, he doesn't care to be in your future. It's a tell-tale sign for me they won't stick around. I have the past, present, and future with me in all that I am... I just know not to let the past hurt me anymore. Part of that comes from sharing it!

Yep...my past definately makes me who I am take it or leave it. I don't share it in grave detail with just anyone....but that said, anyone who can't deal with it.....

Only if it pertains to how you treat him, and if thats the case, you probably arent over whatever it was and you should do some more healing first.

Sure, all in due time. Part of the enjoyment of a relationship is sharing and hearing your lover's story. All the chapters don't need to come out right away. As time goes on and trust develops, I think you should share your story with the one you love...the good and the bad. The ugly can be saved for much later

I think some things should be shared IF you feel comfortable sharing them. BUT as far as telling how many people you have been with and who you have been with..absolutely not. Why does he want to know if you slept with one of his friends? Why do I really care who he slept with...thats his past and it should be left there!!
I do think people should share things like if you were admitted to a psycho hospital...that kind of stuff might make them want to run the other way. Things like that are important but some things are better off left in the past
