Ask Ted Kennedy why he is opposition to wind farms off the shore of Ma.

No one spends more R&D dollars towards finding an alternative fuel sources than the oil companies. Why? Because who ever finds the magic bullet will make gads of cash. That's business.

The problem is not a free market or lack of government intervention the problem IS government intervention and regulation. I say instead of subsidizing farmers to turn the world's food supply into a stupid bio fuel we should be subsidizing any company or individual willing to spend the R&D $$ to find and alternative to oil. In the meantime let the oil companies drill where we know we have oil and let them build refineries to turn that oil into gas. Think of the job creation. We have the technology to do it all with minimal impact to wildlife so why not us instead of China? They have the OK to drill off of Cuba now. Think they give a crap about the environment? I think their record speaks for itself.

Sometimes I ramble...

there are two ways to combat high gas prices. 1. We need more oil available to the public (supply and demand). 2. We need an alternative source of fuel. Ethanol is the most retarded idea that i have ever heard of. Notice how this is the one of the FEW real methods being used? What really sucks is that we have the technology. The government merely turns a blind eye when the oil companies take that technology and destroy it. The oil industry is an oligopoly. We just need to level the playing field a bit. The problem won't be solved through taxes, whether it's raising or lowering them. It's just a very temporary fix.

Yes thats true. The oil companies usually buy the patents from people and then just never do anything with them. I am thinking that we have to improve fuel cell technology if we are ever gonna get off oil. Electricity is the way to go, we just have to find a way to make if feasible.

windmills and water plants.

How are you gonna use windmills and water plants to power a car?

the use of water and wind to make electricity would work in two fold way to power vehicles

1 you could use electric cars and charge them with said power

2 you could use the oil saved by using the water and air to create electricity (thus lowering demand) to power the vehicles

i am sure some other ideas are out there

That just goes back to my post about electricity is the way to go. Yes water and wind generate electricity. That doesn't explain why he quoted me when I said electricity is where its at as far as powering cars goes, but if he knows of some other method then thats cool.

Nuclear power is where we should be headed. As far as realistic energy production goes.

well they should be increasing the use of all three forms

and thx i was beginning to think i killed the whole forum

Electric cars are a cool concept. Where to plug them in at night? How to make the electricity that they run on? Nuclear? Yes.
Now while we all save up for the first and 2nd gen electric cars could we please just drill for more oil here. Pretty please? It's under us and wants us to drill for it I know it.

they had good effiecant electric cars in the 70's

google it

wonder what happened to those

i wonder

I don't care what they had in the 70's. You'll never get me to buy into a conspiracy theory about it though. If whoever supposedly shelved the technology had run with it think of the bread they would have made by now. I don't buy it. If they did shelve the technology or design of a good efficient electric car back then think of the bread they'd make now by re-introducing it.

We'll have electric cars in the near future. As quickly as the battery tech is there. The question is how to create the energy and how much will it cost to produce that energy to charge them and does the ROI makes sense over say a 45 mpg internal combustion engined car.

I bet you'd be surprised. A good gas or diesel powered car can be designed to be very efficient. Not even talking about hybrid technology here. I'd rather have the gas version of most hybrid models out there. By the time you make up the difference of purchase cost at the pump it's time for a new car. No thanks.

This car is sweet. You wouldn't use it for out of state travel, but your typical daily stuff it would be great.

Im no politician and I dont know all about this crap, but I do know that it now costs $7 for two gallons of milk. It would be cheaper for me to buy a cow, use it's **** to burn and keep warm, and the cost of alfalfa is definately cheaper than two gallons of milk. Even if Im wrong, bottom line is that poor people are Fukced. Period.

Poor people have always been fukced. Thats why they are called "poor". There are more oportunities for people to not be poor here in the US than any other country. So much oportunity that a lot of other countries are sending their poor here so they don't have to deal with them.

Nuclear. Drilling. Those are the answers to the OP.

particle accelerator would be much more efficient than nuclear technology. Also, solar power is the most underated source of energy out there i think. Supposedly if you could harvest 100 percent of the solar energy that strikes the earth for 1 minute, itwould be enough to supply the entire world for a year.glasses Solar = electric. This is where efficent electric cars would be nice. We should probably stop destroying them...ohwell

still in the box arrived yesterday

gonna put a meter on it tomorrow

supposed to be 50 watts meter will they

but seems a little small for 50 watts

so if it measures out it is one of the good ones

they said 17 volts and 2.9 amps so i will see

hope so want to get up around 150 to 200 for my motor home

Tell me how a temporary gas tax relief program is going to help lower gas prices over anything but the present time. I'd rather do something more permanent, like drill for oil here and build more refineries.
