Yes and No. I am 27, I am almost done with my bachalors degree. Some of my peers went straight through and graduated at 21 and are in jobs that they can't stand. I have about another 6-7 years before I will have my PhD. People are happy or look at me like I am crazy that I will be spending that many more years in college/university.

As a future social work, that cause lots of other discrepancies when it comes to values. I have people tell me oh so you must like helping people, I couldn't do that. They mostly mean dealing with individuals on welfare. The great thing about social work is that you don't necessarily 'help' ppl but you guide them to empower themselves.

And if we want to go even further I am a moderate republican. And most of my college peers are democrats.

And unfortunately in michigan, I am sometimes an odd man out in respect to the fact that I am a gay rights activist.

hhmmmmm.... peccy I can't think of anything else.

That depends on how you define “peers”

I seem to differ greatly from most people I actually meet in real life.

However, I read a lot of books and I feel a very close connection with many of the authors. Most of whom are scientists. So if you count them as my ‘peers’ then I don’t feel that my priorities and values differ much.

But with respect to the average guy on the street? I think I differ quite a lot.

I guess I need to write a science book and then I can be ‘peers’ with those authors huh? drinker
