Are any of us prepared for a natural disaster? Earthquakes, tornadoes, firers...etc. What could we do to prepare for any of these events. Has anyone been through any disasters?

If you're in the woods and a bear is going to attack you.... stand as big as you can... Then they won't attack...
I'm ready... oh yes I am... |

If you're in the woods and a bear is going to attack you.... stand as big as you can... Then they won't attack... I'm ready... oh yes I am... According to the Waltons tv show, you're supposed to repeatedly clap two noisy stones together to scare off the bear... No, I am completely unprepared for a natural disaster. If it's my time, I'll have to accept it whether I like it or not, prepared or not...... |

I've been through two hurricanes, but just a 2 and a 3. If a 4 ro 5 are coming, I get the heck out of Dodge! Not only was I prepared, but fed half of my neighbors....my overkill was greatly appreciated.

Sounds like that old joke...
Guy #1: You can't outrun a bear! Guy #2: No, but as I see it, I only have to outrun you. |

Lived thru Wilma category 5, no one is ever prepared enough. The winds literally rolled the roof entirely off one of the buildings in the complex I was living in like opening a sardine can.
Saw another building crumble. There is no way to prepare for such fierce strength of nature. * had the supplies, food, etc * mean there is no realistic way to face nature's wrath, it's humbling to say the least. |

Disaster Supplies Kit Basics
The following items might be needed at home or for an evacuation. Keeping them in an easy-to-carry backpack or duffel bag near your door would be best in case you need to evacuate quickly, such as in a tsunami, flash flood, or major chemical emergency. Store your kit in a convenient place known to all family members. Kit basics are: A portable, battery-powered radio or television and extra batteries. Flashlight and extra batteries. First aid kit and first aid manual. Supply of prescription medications. Credit card and cash. Personal identification. An extra set of car keys. Matches in a waterproof container. Signal flare. Map of the area and phone numbers of places you could go. Special needs, for example, diapers or formula, prescription medicines and copies of prescriptions, hearing aid batteries, spare wheelchair battery, spare eyeglasses, or other physical needs |
