I am poet
hear me rhyme
listen to my feelings chime
my agony
my love sublime
my sentiments in silent mime

My ecstasy of former bliss
my broken heart from love I miss
and in the midst of all of this
I reminisce
of evil’s dark abyss

I convey my thoughts in magic prose
that I bestow as I compose
with a rhapsody that grows and flows
from emotions in my soul

I can’t explain my dire need
to rhyme my words as I proceed
it’s like as if I’m high on speed
and that becomes the words you read

I need to tell you of my hurt
but it wouldn’t sound right if I blurt
so I share my pain with much disdain
as a garrulous dessert

And when I’m feeling low
I’ll take the luster off my glow
and freeze it in the bitter cold
on Pitiless Plateau

Or if I’m feeling happy
my writings will be sappy
I’ll sing a tune and try to swoon
with a beat that’s really snappy

It’s too much rhyme they say
you’ve got to hold yourself at bay
cut it loose from the rhyming noose
and write a natural bouquet

But can never do that
cuz I’m addicted to the verse
to try to write it otherwise
would seem to me perverse
