i have a tendency to just accept people treating me poorly and will even justify their behavior... it makes me angry with myself and with them, which eventually leads to arguments instead of addressing the behavior initially... i also have a strange tendency to fall for lazy guys who are not willing to do anything to help maintain our home - i am somewhat OCD about cleaning and thus when they will NEVER clean anything it just annoys me... granted i am sure i will come behind them and redo it anyway, but at least pretend to try to do something

I have been working on myself for the past 4 years, well longer but those have been mainly for my self image and self esteem because they were a problem for me before. I am now working on breaking my walls down to trust someone close to my heart again. It is a struggle for me everyday. My addictive behavior shows up in cigs and food. The food one I am working on, not eating for comfort, eating for hunger.
My problems stem all the way back to being sexually abused at the age of 5 or so. So I have had a lifelong journey with working the thru the residual effects of it. Also I have an emotionally closed off mom. She doesn't show emotion well so I never learned how to be emotionally attached healthily anyways. Codependency has been an issue throughout most of my relationships, I have also been working on breaking that cycle. I think I am doing great though, if the wall comes down then my next relationship will be closer and more fulfilling. |
