I also believe things happen for a reason..reasons that won't be known until we meet our maker. But, I do feel like I have a purpose in life..just figuring out how to get what I need done, done...But, if it's meant to happen, I'm sure God will direct me in the path I need to go. Yes, there are so many senseless deaths..and sometimes justice seems to go against the victim wrongly..and i think that needs to be addressed....just my 2 cents worth here...

Sounds like that girl's been reading The Purpose Filled Life, good book, available at any Wal Mart for around $10 or less on the internet.

The book basically says that our purpose is to serve god through worship (a relationship with him), fellowship, discipleship (learning), a ministry of service to other believers and a mission to unbelievers.

Further it says that life is a trust to see what we do with God's resources (the money, time, talents and other things He lends to us)

It says that life is a test to see when and where we will be kind to other people. Whether we say hello, whether we're polite and other things.

And it says that life is a temporary assignment on Earth.

And everything else kind of follows.

It's a good purpose to have, IMHO. Could you give it a try?

My purpose is to live the life given to me as best I can. No religious connotations there. I also believe we all have a purpose being part of the human community to be humane to our brethren and all living things on this planet.

My last girlfriend asked me this....i don't have an answer....she gave me a religious answer, "living your life for God"
she also said everything happens for a reason...

Now i disagree with both comments....I find it hard to believe that we have some special purpose & somehow, like a scientist we are supposed to discover what that purpose is....

I also don't think everything happens for a reason....I have seen pointless drive-by killings & read about other pointless murders & find it unbelievable that people think there is a purpose for something like that....

what are your thoughts? Do you have a Purpose? what is it? Does everything that happens happen for a reason?

My purpose is just to live the best life I can live while here and treat people as I want to be treated...because I really believe what goes around comes around....

I too believe that everything happens for a reason, a lot of things may not make sense at the time but there is a reason for everything. People come into our lives for a reason, whether it be to teach us something or become a lover or a best friend...Who knows!! There are times that people come into our lives and do us soooo wrong and then leave as if they were never there, but we are left with the thaught "WTF did I do or why did this happen to me??" The reason is simple...It was to teach us to be more cautious and not give all of us to fast and to be weary of trusting to soon. I have had this happen in friends, lovers and relationships on all levels. I don't change who I am I just harden my heart and be less eager to trust or open myself fully!! I also believe in Karma and I have seen how this works...About 7yrs ago I had cancer cells growing on my cervix and I was going through a lot of tests and biopsies then after a "Leep" procedure that left me with a serious infection and I could barely walk, my son's dad got mad at me and said these words wich I will never forget "I HOPE YOU DIE OF CANCER MAGGOT" and hung up on me!! Ok cool though it hurt I really thaught nothing of it. 3yrs later he almost went into a diabetic coma and was rushed to the Hospital to find that his blood sugar level was at 1700 when the normal level is only 100.
He is battleing a undefeated battle with it today and is loosing teeth and everything else and his blood sugar level he can't get to go below 375. As I have remained cancer free for 7yrs now!! I do feel bad for him but he did a lot of bad things to me and his son so "What comes around goes around"!!
I am not a real believer in God but I am a real believer in the Universe and what ever you put out you get back times 10 whether it be "negative" or "positive" I prefer the positive and I do put very positive energy out there daily!!
I am also a firm believer in "Fate" what is meant to happen will happen and there really is nothing you can do about!!
As far as my purpose?? I believe I will find out sooner or later but I really believe that it is to make as many people happy as possable and to be a great mother to my son and soon be a wonderful and loving wife to my Husband.
We are all human beings and we all serve a purpose and one that may or may not make a huge difference but will make an impact at some point in a lot of peoples lives!!!

God wanted a being that would worship him out of free will. So he made humans on Earth with the angle there that he kicked out of heaven so the us humans would be able to make a choice of to serve god or serve this angle that is going to be cast into hell. so your purpose is to decide which you want to follow and all else will fall in line. Like i said before ya'll probably don't want me to get started on this.
