Well, from the experience of dating my male friend that I was able to talk about those things with, if it doesn't work out, it is ugly. You lose your best male friend. Who is sometimes closer than a best female friend. Cause sometimes your best girlfriend will instantly take your side and agree with everything you say when a male best friend will tell you like it is from a guys point of view.

When I dated my best male friend, he went from an open person with whom I could talk about anything and everything to a dishonest bastard who never wanted to say anything that might come close to hurting my feelings.
