Ok, say one had a restraining order about 4 years ago, which is still in effect to this day, and 4 years later this person happens to come into your job trying to talk to you but was totally unaware that you... were you. What could you do legally?

legally, you could call the cops and have them tossed in jail. Ethically, if they did not know you were you, just forget the whole matter...lol

I think by your not calling the police you may have nullified the order.

Im wondering what on earth this person did to get a restraining order still in effect after 4 years.. typically they only last 1 to 2 years....

He made first contact by visiting your job, you can tell the police and get him for violating the restrainin order, even if he didn't know he was talking to you, he was talking to you thus violating the order.

How much longer is the restraining order in effect. The longest I have ever seen one served for was 2 years. It obviously concerns you so check with the court that filed it to make sure it is still active. Good Luck Sweetie

Well, if they didn't know who they were talking too...then whats the problem? If you talked to them...then doesn't that nullify it? Anyway....let it go....if they left and no harm done..then no fowl.

Why call the cops when they didn't have a clue?

I'm in a delimma with that, as he'd lose his security clearance. I'm having to go another route.

Be careful! Stalkers can be seriously dangerous!

First what kind of business do you work in?

Did he have good cause to come in?

You say you tried to avoid him, why couldn't you?

Since you were 14 yrs old when the restraining order was issued you were a minor.

You just might need a new one since you are an adult, especially since you allowed contact and did not report it.

You should keep in mind when whatever happened happened when you were a minor, and he may have been waiting for you to turn 18 to come back around.

Protect yourself!
