please pull me out from my deep deep ignorance.
a couple of days I saw a thread about men attracted or not attracted to independant women. I said "Hell no" I'm not attracted to them as far as i understand the expression, which is as follows: "Independant woman is the one when you open the door of the car of her, she says I can do it myself. She is the one who when you offet her carry something for her, she says "I can do it myself. She is the one one you open the chair for her in a restaurant. She says 'I can don it myself.'" That kind of independant woman is the one who is killing gentleness and gentlemen, and to that independant woman is the one I said "Hell no." However, that woman who works, have a career, is opinionated and defends her position. KNows how to use tools and do things in the house, and the same time is a lady. Well that is the woman that every woman could be. So please help me with this definition and make me less ignorant. I will appreciate it. TLW |

Sometimes women are not use to a man treating them the way they should have always been treated, and are use to having to be INDEPENDENT. It may be they are just misunderstood to a certain degree.

Well, I consider myself to be independent, I don't want or need anyone to support me financially, I can do almost anything that needs to be done on my own and I don't need anyone to take care of me. I just think being independent means being able to take care of yourself yet being open to being taken care of and taking care of when and if you need it, and let's face it, people of both sexes need that on occasion.

From what I read, I think you are confusing your definition with the "women's lib" movement sterotype.
"Independent woman" basically refers to a woman who is not "dependent" on someone else. They do things just fine by themsleves. They are not "needy" or "reliant" on someone else. To me, an "independent woman" is VERY ATTRACTIVE. Because if she is with me, that signals to me she WANTS to be with me..not that she "needs" to be with me or someone. Hope this helps clear any confusion.

The one that says 'I can do things for myself!!' is'nt independant, she has deep seeded personality issues and is most likely highly insecure.
I believe an independant woman looks to herself for happiness before others. |

I also agree....I have a job,take care of my kids ,my own bills,my house,my everything....yet i still would love to have a man open my door,pull out my chair...etc....but when you have been doing all that by yourself it kind of surprises you alittle bit when you actually have a man that does all that.....and actually when i think about it where are all the men that do that???? where are the true gentlemen out there???????????

I want a man in my life with me and my children, I do not need one. That is a huge difference, but I do know my mom taught me manners, that if a man opens the door for me, Thank you-not- I can get it myself. Or if he offers to pay the check at dinner, hell yes he can pay it, I got kids, not that I need him to pay it, but hell yes he can if he offers. You need to see that movie called, 2 can play that game.

I'm going to say something and don't take it as a criticism against USA. HOwever, the place where i come from (ofcourse there some idiots over there also) and the way i was raised women are always first. You always give her a seat in a bus when is full. You open doors for them, etc, etc. BUt since i came here, I have found that some ladies just don't appreciate those details, they reject them ANd those are (or were) like everyday things for me like a second nature ANd what happens now is that sometimes I don't give a damn anymore. A couple of months my mom was here, and she noticed an attitude from me towards a female friend of mine, and my mom got really upset. The thing my mom does not know is the kind of woman i have come accross here. |

I posted this because it's being very confusing for me I'm going to say something and don't take it as a criticism against USA. HOwever, the place where i come from (ofcourse there some idiots over there also) and the way i was raised women are always first. You always give her a seat in a bus when is full. You open doors for them, etc, etc. BUt since i came here, I have found that some ladies just don't appreciate those details, they reject them ANd those are (or were) like everyday things for me like a second nature ANd what happens now is that sometimes I don't give a damn anymore.
