I'm not broken, why would I chose to take on someone who was broken?

If they were in the past and got help and recovered, that's fine.

But if they have these mental issues, they need to deal with them on their own, and my supporting them is detrimental to me and to them.

very well said... my ex tried to commit suicide as well.. and the only one that could really fix he problem was her.. she wasnt happy with herself and there was nothing anyone else could do to change that

everyone, despite what they tell you, has problems...

the important thing for me is full on honesty about those problems...it all depends on the individual...

eating disorder - yes
cutter - yes
abused in the past - who hasn't been anymore? - yes
depressed - yes
bi-polar - yes
unable to empathize/sympathize - no


the eating disorder, and abuse, the depression and being bi-polar..all those are on-going things, they never end..no matter how 'over' things they are, once an issue resurfaces, they'll have the urge to do the things they always have, that's normal.. so it would depend on how they dealt with their issues..


are they getting a handle on their issues? have their issues gotten WAY out of hand? my dating them would depend on these things

however, if i stub my toe, he'd better empathize, and NEVER tell me to get over it if im crying about pain LOL

Being abused myself yes I would they can't always help things that happen in life.

I suppose if the issue were controlled, I might not know of it until we were already dating...so, yes. If it were not controlled though, and the issue made the person annoying to start with, I don't imagine I'd be around long enough to find out about it...so, no.

sorry for your experiences, but I doubt I would want to date/get involved with anyone with these issues.

i know, dont worry, like i said i like to see everyones opinions, i have opinions to about lots of things, like i dont want to date a man with kids etc, were all entitled to our opinions and i enjoy reading everyones views.
