 - sorry I have no excuse, too easy to let go by. Have heard of shots that ease the TMJ, but they are only temporary. |

I go through a night guard every month. Did find one in Walmart yesterday that looks promising. Lo Pro + Mouthguard, found it in the sporting goods section. Its bulky but it has a breathing hole. The only problem I found is it dries your mouth out. I'll take that over my head hurting in the morning. Breaking my jaw, ouch. |

Get to a specialist!

Anybody have TMJ? Do you have any tips for help? i have problems, my jaw locks and cracks a lot. i refused the surgery because its a big operation. ive tried pretty much tried everything, and nothings helped, and i dont grind my teeth. if you do grind your teeth, your dentist can make you a plate to wear at bed time. |

I'm not a grinder, I clench. Don't chew gum, don't like it. I was just on a couple of sites for TMJ and basically were screwed. Surgery doesn't cure and can even cause more pain. Didn't feel like given $14.95 to take the TMJ test when I already know my jaws pop like corn. They did recommend hot and cold compresses, drugs and relaxation, guided imagery. Those I can do. Just when you wake up you feel like you need a crow bar to open your darn mouth.
