I have to say that before being a catholic, I'm a christian because the essence of the catholicism it's the salvation of man through our Lord Jesus Christ which is the same essence of other christian denominations.
By saying this I'm not diminishing my respect for the authority that the catholic church, (please read this: authority over those who are catholics, keep this in mind before making any comment) through the Roman Pontifice, has over several issues in people's life (again just and only catholic people.
My only point here is that I (just me) believe that the human being has an inherent tendency of dividing instead of uniting.
At the beginning christianity was ONE which started with the Apostles with Peter as the head.
Through the centuries for different reasons most of them because of egoism because some leaders thought they were right in a single issue they started dividing the Church funded by Christ. When I said leaders I'm also referring to some catholic leaders who where egoist enough to not open their minds to change and new energy for the church.
In other words, through our Lord we are ONE because we love and worship the same God in His three different persons(Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), but as Human beings we are divided into many different denominations for which I personally don't find any sense whatsoever.

But what can we do? we are humans we like to tear appart instead of put together.grumble grumble grumble grumble

I have always liked the story of the tower of babel. I think it is partly due to the fact that when I was growing up my brother had this poster of what the tower of babel would have looked like. Strong and perfect most of the way up and then all different at the higher part were God changed all the languages. It also had people all over it working on it that could not communicate.

I know what the story is supposed to mean. For me though it is about being brave enough to step up and test the status quo. Be so brave that you can say God does not exist even when everyone tells you there will be a great and painful penalty for saying such things. It also shows that progress dosn't go in a straight line. We try to always move higher and higher but sometime we fail and actually move backwards. That dosn't mean you don't try what your parents failed at. Go ahead and start building again until you shoot God out of the sky.

Sorry I got side tracked . I was just going to say seems like a modern day Babel.

LonelyWalker.....
The song below, says it all ...we are One...despite our denominational differences.

In our community, all denominations are starting to come together in One Accord......and are meeting at each others churches..and this is happening more and more....everywhere.

My prayer is....one day ....all denominational walls will come tumbling down....forever.

Carolyn Arends \" They'll Know We Are Christians "

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

We will work with each other, we will work side by side
We will work with each other, we will work side by side
And we'll guard each one's dignity and save each one's pride
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

By our love, by our love

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand
And together we'll spread the news that God is in our land
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

By our love, by our love

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

Hi, I don't want to wade into a long discussion or arguement; I just wanted to share my thoughts. All I know is Jesus Christ Himself said that there is only ONE way to God, and Jesus is it. Some churches teach there's other things or people to go thru, too. The church that says there's only One way cannot unite with those that don't. There are many different denominations within the Christ-centered church. We can come together, but I'm not so sure there shouldn't be different kinds of churches. I'm nondenominational. When I am very happy, I dance a little around the house. I like a church where I can do that...long as there is not chaos or taking attention off the reason we are in church. The Bible teaches "decent and in order". Some people are very quiet and dancing just isn't a way they are comfortable worshipping. There are churches where they can feel comfortable. There are some Christian churches I'm just not comfortable in. Who is right or wrong is God's business. I know some denominations brake off others to go on a tangent, or out of anger, or they feel they do not have the same scriptural beliefs, or whatever. Still, it's God's business. He will straighten us all out here if we let Him; later, if we don't. According to prophecy, true Believers will be forced to unite, but they will be the minority. They cannot co-exist with those of a different belief. For me as a Christian, that the majority in churches will not worship God for Who He is, thru Jesus, is the saddest part. I see it now.
The people who got too big for their britches, building the tower of Babel....they found out that challenging God leads to failure. They had to give it up. No glory in being stupid.
