Topic: Computer Issues =( | |

While at my friends place i picked up new Ram for my computer for a minor upgrade. Made sure it was the right type and everything. I went to install it yesterday. Turned my computer off fully, unplugged it put the new ram in and fired it up.
Moniter wouldn't come on. I made sure the moniter was plugged in and tried again. nothing. Changed from the offboard to the onboard Video card and tried again. zzzz Finally took the ram out and tried again still nothing. Put the ram in and ajusted something to get the smell of electrical and the computer not working. After a few minutes of fighting with it Got the computer to fire up but no Hard drive and no moniter. Turned out the new ram fried itself and the board at the same time. SO i have to buy new ram and a new board tomarrow and HOPE the Video card is still good. *sigh* I hate computers... (PS im on my mothers computer right now.) |

are you getting any beep codes before the computer runs post? Nope. You can clearly tell the HD isnt running. I took it down to the repair shop just to VERIFY what i already knew. Luckily they didnt charge me anything but they don't carry my mother board. Im just kind of leary of putting ram into the new board when i get it - less this happens again |

well id go with a power supply first for the hd then possibly a video card if the hd isnt running why would it be the motherboard? its only a ide for older pcs or an sata cable that isnt doing anything but transferring data back and forth from the motherboard i wouldnt think it would have anything to do with the hd not spiinning of course id also test the ps also just to be sure |
