By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: April 5, 2008 Filed at 12:09 p.m. ET WASHINGTON (AP) -- It's no longer a question of recession or not. Now it's how deep and how long. Workers' pink slips stacked ever higher in March as jittery employers slashed 80,000 jobs, the most in five years, ..................... http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/business/AP-Economy.html |

the economy started going down hill with clinton Yellowrose, I'm going to disagree with you on this one. We were all doing pretty good financially during Clinton's time. |

I second this one, Clinton's had a better record while in the White house vs Bush. Everything going down hill with Bush in the White House. |

GW erased 8yrs of progress in his first few actions in office. |

I am no financial wizard but some things are obvious. Whether it started in Clinton's time which was a long time ago in financial terms, or whether the current administrations mislead concerns over making others like themselves richer and to hell with the average everyday person, the economy is slipping.
We are going to pay for this and already are in gas prices which effect all our groceries and everyday necessities. I am not talking of handouts or whatever other "liberal" terminology people like to use for those of us who see Bush for the scoundrel that he is. I am talking about all of us, not the elite, and our quality of daily life. We cannot afford the expenses as it is. |

We are definetly in trouble. Our currency in other countries is becoming worthless. I have heard people visiting other countries say our currency is almost as bad as that of a third world country. For those who have not felt the pinch you will be. 80000 job loses in March was bad but wait till Aprils report comes out. ATA went bankrupt this month and that was 2200 employees and that was just the 1st week of April. We are way past deciding if we are in a recession, the question now is are we entering into a depression and what will be the straw to break the camels back.
And by the way Clinton did a decent job. Bush messed up from the beggining and after 8 years of him lining his pocket and screwing the American people were in a very deep hole. The next president no matter who it is will either work to death fixing this mess or contine to flush this country down the drain. If it continues to decline we will not need to worry about border patrol. |

The gas company (heating) raised their rates significantly this winter for my area. Yesterday the electric company sent a letter announcing their rate hikes.
Food prices have increased. The gas station - ouch. Houses are not selling at all in my area. Building new homes has basically stopped. I have general contractor friends that aren't working very much right now. Even the hospitals cut back on their nursing staff. The only new jobs seem to be minimum wage. We have many colleges in our city. The cost of tuition is going out the roof this year. It was nothing like this during the Clinton years. |

If we would just revamp th tax code, our dollar would be worth alot more and our jobs would come back here instead of going overseas to avoid the tax burden the IRS places on Corporations. Our politicians are taxing the jobs right out of this country. Do some rsearch people.
