Just curious what others think...

If 2 wrongs don't make a right, what about 100 or more wrongs? Like if there's no ash tray or cigarette disposal place somewhere, and you need to get rid of your smoke; do you plunk it with the 100+ other butts in one particular area or what? My friend and I were discussing this quandry cuz she was in this exact situation. Thus the use as an example.

is your Friend A Lemming? if Your Friend has Doubts then Your Friend Should do What Feels Right. not necessarily what everybody else does.

I guess that all depends on the religion.

In some religions the more wrongs the merrier.

For example, in one religion men had to nail the deity to a pole to be forgiven their sins.

So evidently the moral of the story is that the way to be forgiven your sins is to commit brutal murder. ohwell

Weird. huh

I just wanted to see what people thought, and I don't know that I put this in the right forum. We just thought it would be interesting to see what people thought, not necessarily based on religion or anything, just in general.

Right or wrong is merely the focus of your own perception. What you believe is the only thing that matters until it's not.

Just quit smoking.

Then you can move on to more interesting quandaries.

My best friend is the smoker. I know she's gotten bugged about it enough by others, so I don't bug her about quitting. As for me, I figure I'm messed up enough, what with weight-related health probs, which I am working on. It's easy for us nonsmokers to say "Quit", but I am sure it's harder than we think.

No, I cull the live end of the cigarette, then take the butt, and the others, that are in a pile, and put them in a plastic bag, tie the end off, and shove it in my bag, till I find a bin..

No wrongs make a right EVER...

no matter which way you want to spin it...

The personal morality and integrity, is obvious, just in the mere fact of asking the question.

It is wrong to contribute and compound a wrong...

ie: another butt, in a pile of butts..

since there is no ash tray or cigarette disposal place then most likely that is a place where smoking is not allowed ..so tell them to take their "butt" someplace else

If we follow macchiavelli, i would say yes. He said repeat a lie 100 times, and it will become a truth.
However, as I don't follow such a fallacy (which in a practical sense it's a reality, just look what the government has done, the government has repeated 100 times that the war in Iraq is for freedom and democracy, and just look how many people are totally convinced of it) I would say no 100 wrongs won't make a right.
Let's say if my daughter (who i don't have yet) has been raped, and I suddenly decide to go after all the reported sexual predators and castrate a 100 of them that would not bring my daughter back to the state she was before the rape.
Therefore, it follows that 100 wrongs won't make one right.

Do not throw the cigarette down where it does not belong. I used to work at a restaurant and everyone would go outside to smoke and they would plunk their smokes down on the ground or sidewalk. Lots of butts. Guess who got to clean them up at the end of the day? Me. And I don't smoke. One less butt plunked down there, means one less that I have to pick up.

Don't plunk it. In fact, get a bag and pick up the ones down there if you want to do the right thing.

....When the smoker finishes the cigarette and flicks the butt away, the butt actually contains a significant amount of nicotine trapped in the fibers of the filter -- perhaps 20 milligrams. That is enough, it turns out, to kill your child. If 20 milligrams of nicotine is ingested by a small child, the nicotine will cause respiratory failure and paralysis....
