Out of the blue my telephone rang
I said hello and it was you who said
hey how ya doin can i come over and play
I replied sure, come on, we'll be here
I have nothing else planned today
You drove, and drove for miles on end
took a few wrong turns and kept driving
round the bend
A trip that should have been only 6 or 8
hours quickly became an endless encounter
No interstate anywhere to be found
dirt roads and pavement the only sound
wheels turning hitting the ground
taking you places you were never bound
down winding roads, inner cities with gangs,
drugs on every corner, you got the hell out of there
You wanted to go home, retrace your steps
Is this trip really worth it
with no directions to be found?
A man of your word, you trudged ahead
thinking the worst must be over now
Little did you know still 3 hours to go
Calling and talking, chatting endlessly
giving instructions, getting closer to me
The evening passed by, now its early morn'
my doorstep you've finally found
What a relief to have you here
I see you get out and walk through the dark
standing in the moonlight
bright shining and true
you didnt give up,
when you could have went back...

confusing,having driven them myself in th past,
wandering my own path...
