if a person leaves a job they hated to begin with, because they ripped thier knee and were no longer ABLE to do the work assigned to them, is that a real reason for leaving the job, or is it a cop out?

if they are unable to immeadiatly find another job within say 2 weeeks, because of said torn knee, does that make them a bad person or is it reasonable to expect a little more time to recover?

please discuss

if they can't do the job...like it or not...it's not a cop out. not being able to find a job because of the knee doesn't make them a bad person. it's a medical reason. it's not like that person said forget it...i'm living off the system because i just don't want to workflowerforyou

A ripped or torn ligament or knee takes awhile to heal,
I would say probbley more than two weeks. As for quitting
a job- I don't know about that. Depends on what the person has to do on the job.

~ If you are unable to fulfill your job description I dont see it as a cop out.

~ If you are unable to find a new suitable job, maybe you should look into disability for a while.

~ none of the above constitute whether you are a good/bad person.

No it does not make you a cop out, lazy or anything else.....the problem is so many people have faked their injury, got paid from the company, that people with real injuries get the shaft......flowerforyou

if one has been injured on the job..they have the right to leave...

if one needs more time to heal from an injury..then they need more time...

not a bad person at all...

an injured person..yes...

If a person, due to an injury is no longer able to perform their duties at work, I think it is absolutley acceptable to terminate said employment. And, if the said injury makes it difficult to find another job immediatly, I don't think that says anything negative about that person.

And yes, I think sufficient recovery time would be in order flowerforyou

it doesnt make you a bad person at all.. and you should let your knee or any health matter mend before considering going back to work. and no its not a cop out at all, if your not happy with that job why stay in it.. look else where that would make you happy. and yes you should give it more time to recover, as you shouldnt rush into things. and people should understand instead of complaining about it

I don't doubt it...businesses have no problem hiding the fact that they have no loyalty to their employees....sad

If you don't like the job just quit and move on. Sticking with a job you don't like just makes one miserable. The question is if you liked your job would you be working now? If so then it is a cop out, otherwise no. (Same advice for a relationship - if you don't love your mate then seperate.)

If I were in that predicament, I'd do exactly what I did when I got sick from mold at work. I would bring it to my boss' attention that conditions were unsuitable and that I was unable to do my job. I'd ask if there were other areas or duties I could have, and have them tell me whether or not I need to leave. If I was injured on the job, I'd file worker's comp immediately.
Lots of companies (if not all) state in the hiring process that they need to be aware if you need any accommodations you might need to do your job properly. Some will work with you if something should happen along the way, and some won't. I'd say it's worth a shot to ask, but if you're sick of the place anyway, it's a good reason to get out. I wouldn't feel like a loser about it, but it sure is hard as hell for me to find work now! Good luck, hope you feel better soon! flowerforyou

i am looking into disability, but i am not thinking i am going to get the same positive response i got here.

I tried when i ripped it the first time, and most of what i got was, if you can walk, you arent disabled and im pretty sure that you can still carry over 100 pounds so sorry bout your luck

I hate my job and I have a bad knee as well.

My job is so challenging that if I did'nt want to quit I'd probably be insane, but I keep finding the motivation to stick with it.

Being hurt is a valid reason to leave a job. Hating your job is a valid reason as well imo. Move on to the next one and give it your best shot.
