The "all that" encompasses a host of sweeping reforms: Thanks to Bremer's alterations of Iraqi law during the first year of the US occupation, American companies are now allowed to buy out 100 percent of Iraqi businesses, instead of partnering with them. Bremer's orders also eliminated Iraq's high taxes on corporations, exchanging them for a 15 percent "flat tax." They abolished the practice of giving preference to Iraqi companies - in contracting out reconstruction work, for example - and erased a requirement to hire Iraqi workers.

This is an excellent article showing the ultimate goal of the Bush administration.

We were saving them supposedly so we could economically take them over. Is that not tyranny? Remember the oil that people kept talking about as the reason for going to war, apparently it was true.

If we are went to take over...why are we trying to rebuild and get them to the point they can once again be their own country?

Did you read the excerpt? The article has more info on what we are doing to undermine their independence economically.

Please be clear. You thought this article was excellent and believes that it shows what you think the ultimate goal of the president's administration to be. Only you think this...you might not be alone but you can speak only for you here.

I think such broad, all encompassing blanket statements might be why your posts are taken so harshly. If you are stating your thoughts... state only yours.

my point in talking about own words oppsed to articles is...every side can produce articles, surveys, etc to constantly counteract each other. the media is a tornado.

this is why I choose to debate about something in someone elses words

These articles are public domain.
They are meant as a starting point for her topic!
To get the ball rolling on a discussion that interests the OP!
There are many like this and they aren't all started by Dragoness or myself!
They aren't even limited to current events.
They are in Religion, jokes, poetry, etc.
They are not printed for resale or profit, and thus do not violate any laws!

Why not pick on the am I beautiful threads, or the who is the prettiest, or the MLF threads?

I replied in e-mails, to keep this thread on topic. Again, I apologize.

So - you complain that we spend all the money in Iraq, but now you are complaining we might actually realize a bit of a return, should the infrastructure get rebuilt properly.

Let's see..where is the links to the reports detailing the conditions of infrastructure before we got there? (Let me give you a clue - OSHA would just be slapping "rebuild from ground up" stickers on more than half of it)

Or is it your idea, we should just pull up stakes *right now* - military, contractors, the whole shooting match - up and out, leave Iraq to their own devices?

WWII - We pretty much leveled two cities with atomic bombs, and firestormed a few others to cinders. Afterwards, we helped them rebuild.
Now - they are outproducing US in some areas in quality goods!

No matter what, dis-illusional people unsatisfied with their own lives will find some grand, great cause, which will make them feel like they are worth something, even if it is incredibly ridiculous. Rhetoric and sensationalist feelings of grandeur are all they care about. These are the same people that create conspiracy theories, treasonous, but they will claim to be the most glorious of all....despite the contradicting evidence.
