I'm always made very uncomfortable when someone starts emailing you on this site, but the emails are only a sentence or two and always includes begging you to call them.
I just really have a hard time engaging in a phone call when I know nothing about the guy! Also, I don't want my phone number out there if he turns out to be a psycho. Anyone have another point of view on this they'd like to share? |

E-mails should be longer than a few sentences... and the next step should be messenger, not phone... unless you feel really connected by the mails. I'm guessing you don't, from what you say. Go with your instincts.

I never give my number out. Maybe one day if I've known the person long enough I will but I like the e-mail thing better and thats the way it stays.

Ok...nice to know that my instincts aren't just me being ridiculously over-cautious! I do not feel a connection - there hasn't been enough words back and forth to come near that.

STICK WITH JUST EMAILS RIGHT NOW THEN IF YOU GET SERIOUS THEN LET HIM HAVE A PREPAID CELL NUMBER SO YOU CAN ALLWAYS TURN IT OFF

You dont need to find a good number, Be mature and just say no I dont do phone. I'll do it! I seriously need to quit worrying so much about offending someone or hurting their feelings. If someone can't/won't understand, then I suppose that tells me all I need to know. Thanks all you guys for the advice! |

If you reach a point where you think you might want to talk to him, buy yourself a cheap cell phone with a pay-as-you-go setup and give him that number. If things don't go well, stomp on the phone, throw it in the trash and the number is worthless.
