South African Boerboel, Rottweiler, the Chinese Shar Pei, and Bull-terriers are the breeds I've owned. However, I feel the safest with the Boerboel because they are highly protective, fearless, and excellent guard dogs! My previous Boerboel saved me in a home invasion. A well-bred Boerboel doesn't need training, they will automatically attack an intruder. And they make excellent family dogs. Presently, I'm on my third Boerboel, who shares bed and table with me And she sure deserves it! If you want to feel safe in South Africa, once you've owned a Boerboel, you will keep on coming back to the breed. Yep, "Once a Boerboel always a Boerboel." But be warned, they tear the heart out of you when they pass on. And Guess who Cesar Millan's/the Dog Whisperer's favorite dog became? A Boerboel!
