It would seem that a few of you have requested a success story about Katie and I so this is an attempt to do so. I will do my best not to leave anything out but those of you that know me should know better by now. There once was a guy and the end of his wits in the dating world. He was doomed to be single , it would seem, for the rest of his days. After many failed attempts he was just about to give up all hope. Then one day while searching around on the net a pop up window appeared for a dating sight and after a few chuckles in disbelief, he decided to go ahead and create a profile. It wasn’t long before he had met a few people and decided to stick around and make a few friends. More so for comedy and some simple chit chat since he was still kinda sketchy with the whole online dating concept. How could this possibly work he thought, but since everything else , thus far , had failed he continued on. Some time had passed and he found himself on the sight more and more. Not really interested in anyone as far as companionship, but making a few friends. Then one day, out of boredom he decided to make a thread about what he was cooking up for his dinner. Lasagna and wine. People, out of hunger most likely, responded here and there and noone really caught his eye, but out of nowhere she appeared. She said something like… “He cooks and has taste in wine, women will be knocking your door down in no time.” Over time the conversations and flirting grew and grew and a few short weeks later, if that long, phone numbers were exchanged after many many e-mails were sent. Still in disbelief, he talked to her on the phone for the first time. With sweaty palms and being extremely nervous, more than her it seemed, he attempted to carry on a conversation but his phone was breaking up very badly. He had lost her call, but after a while got reception enough to call back. They seem to hit it off very well from the start. More time passed on and she and he talked and typed more and more. With hours flying by well into the early morning, their friendship grew. Now, at the time, He wasn’t sure if she was doing the same, but he would race home from work to see if he had gotten a letter from her everyday. Some days they sent about 30 – 50 e-mails back and forth. I don’t mean your little “what’s up?” sort of thing either. Some of these letters ended up being several pages long. By now he had already aquired feelings for her, and was wondering how in the world he would, not only tell her, but try to explain to everyone that he knew that he had feelings for someone that he had met on the internet. Then one day in everyday conversation she asks a question that set him a little of guard… “Do you think that I am dateable?” Wanting to jump out of his chair and scream “OH YES!” at the top of his lungs he stopped and pondered the question for a moment and said “Do you mean in general or would I date you?” Now either way the answer would have been yes, but he wound up answering both any way. AND SO IT BEGAN As the weeks passed, more and more letters were sent and then they branched over to IM’s. He even went out and bought a web cam. He had seen her on the cam before and she had seen his pics but not on the cam until then. Eventually he typed something in a letter saying “Don’t make me use the “L” word.” Not to long after a countdown thread was made. He was going to meet her in person. Unfortuanately, the sight had banned the both of them and many of their friends before the countdown expired, but no worries… There is another site, a better sight, and they both joined and continued they countdown there. Many new friends were made and were now apparently inspired by the story and it seemed as though they had a small following of friends hanging on to every word. It felt good to inspire, to let others know that something that he never thought was possible, had not only happened but could also happen for them as well. Any way… …Back to the countdown. Ok, now you would think that the complicated part of this fairy tale was over but sadly many more obstacles lay in their path. While she was counting down the days, rather, calculating the weeks into days, days into hours, hours into minutes, and yes, even minutes into seconds. He was trying to get a flight to see her. With plenty of time before the countdown ending this should have been no problem at all right? Nope. His Aunt was suppose to help out find a cheap ticket for him, which at the time, he was very grateful for. With the excitement building more and more by the day and her phone in a nonstop ringing to find out what time he could depart. She calls days before the countdown was to end to inform that she had waited to long and the ticket was to be almost $300 more than she had originally expected. Most certainly heartbroken and in a frantic he started thinking of other ways that he could get more money. For he was now extremely determined to meet his love in person. At his wits end she exclaims, “Amtrak!!!!!!!!!” “Why not try Amtrak?” Immediately he got online searching for a train ticket and it wasn’t long before he got one. About 2 minutes later he lets her know that the ticket was purchased and that the true countdown may begin. The excitement hit his stomach in a rage of butterflies. He was actually going to travel half way across the country to meet someone that he really only knew from letters? A short time later he started packing. I say started because he probably packed, unpacked and repacked that suitcase like ten times. With every day passing and the AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’s being typed more and more on the countdown thread, it had finally sunk in that this was really happening. The nervousness had now built very high for him as well as for her. Many very supportive people talked them down and also pumped them up. Which by the way, those of you that are reading this we are both very grateful for. Then came the day of the countdowns end. After about forty packs of cigarettes the day had finally come. The beginning of the 32 hour train ride was upon him and after checking his luggage two or three more times he called her to let her know that he was leaving his house for the train station. Now, which one of them more excited? Hmmmmmmmm that’s hard to say. If I had to guess I would say her who was now cleaning her house in very frantic state, she even pledged her cabinet doors and roped her friend into helping her clean the entire place. On the way to the train station his mind raced out of control, but never did the thought of turning back cross his mind. After one of the worst drives through downtown he finally arrived at the train station with his legs shaking he walked up to the counter to claim his ticket. Having a few minutes before the train left he snuck outside to have a few more smokes before departing and to call his love to let her know that he had arrived at the station. Several times in that 15 or 20 minute period she screamed in his ear from excitement. Now it was time to get off the phone any minute an announcement could be heard “All passengers please report to gate “B”. Minutes later “All aboard!!!!!!!” would follow. Quickly finding a seat next to the window he propped his feat up and got situated for the long ride and called her to let her know he was now on the train. The woman in front of me heard her scream in his ear this time and smiled at him. Moments later the train horn could be heard all around, and the train slowly started to leave the station. He was now on his way. He explained to her that the train was leaving and she screamed again. The train got up to speed after a few moments and the journey was now on it’s way. After a few hours of gazing at the beautiful scenery he finally got sick of sitting in his seat and decided to walk around and explore. He had now in a nervous fit found his way down to the lounge car to get a beer to calm his nerves a bit. Many thoughts ran through his mind. What if she doesn’t like me, What then? What will you do? The woman working in the lounge noticed him sitting there drinking his beer and started to ask if he had been on a train before. He said no and started to tell this story to her. The woman seemed very interested and said “You must be really nervous huh?” Of course, he said, and she even gave him a few beers to calm him down. Many hours and phone calls later the cell phone was about to die, so a journey within a journey was needed. He had to find a power outlet for the phone, and after searching he found one and stood by the window downstairs just so he could talk to her. “Where are you now?” she would ask, as I grew slowly closer with every minute that passed. The next day when he called and she asked the same question he said, “Minot” and completely pronounced it wrong, but after a few seconds she figured it out and started with the excitement filled screaming in his ear again. Not to long after I found myself the station before my final stop, around 3 am. There was still about 45 minutes before the stop but that didn’t stop him from going downstairs , luggage in hand to wait by the door for the rest of the trip. I’ll send it now |

I joined this site in November, and was a total nonbeliever that a person couldn't find happiness online. That is, until I met Neal (aka: mtnguy). I have done the online dating thing, and have learned alot from it. I started chatting with Neal on a regular basis, then it went to phonecalls all nite long. I didn't intend on falling in love with him, but I am so glad I did. He and I are very much in love, and are going to be together in May, and I want to thank this site for helping me find the most amazing man I have ever met. I am now a believer, and I owe that to this site, you can find your true love online. Thank you so much. This nice |
