The old verson has two of the greatest scenes in movie history. When Tony comes back and goes to his sister's place, sees his best friend there in a bathrobe, the best friend he asked to take care of his sister. He shots him, only to find out that his best friend married his sister. The camera following the coin he was always flipping down to the floor as it comes to a stop... And later, when his sister gets hit in the cross-fire, shots meant for him, and he is carrying her dead body down the stairs... Nothing beats this depression era movie on the mafia when looking at pretty much any movie ever about the 1930's mob. Yeah, it was way ahead of it's time. I also love all of the Cagney gangster films. The Roaring Twenties, White Heat, Angels With Dirty Faces, etc... I really thought I had seen The Roaring Twenties. But I'm not remembering the plot as I read it. And Bogart was in it. I dislike Bogart almost as much as I love James Cagney. Back in high school, late late night t.v. would show 1930's and 1040's classics. I saw a lot of great shows. Don't suppose you know the name of the movie in which a REALLY bad guy gets a chance to come back after death to finish something and sacrifices his opportunity to end unfinished business to fix something that had gone wrong in her life? It was a great movie and no one seems to know what I'm talking about when I try to find out. |
