I think the shallow thing would be to date someone who didn't meet the qualities you're looking for (whatever those might be). We all look for different things. It's extremely rare that someone embodies everything we look for, so you need to decide what things are deal breakers and what things aren't that big a deal. In the end, remember she's a person too- don't be careless with her feelings.
