So it's a rant thread, is it? oh goodie.

I used to think it was a language or cultural issue with some of our worldwide minglers on the site but now I don't think it is. It's absolute cluelessness, which to be fair, may be a byproduct of culture in some cases. The tendency to jump into a thread with a random "hiiiiii" is a bit irksome. I'm pretty sure a lot of them mistake the forums for live chat.

In fairness, I do notice that some of the most stupid questions asked in the forums are from domestic users as well as foreign but that's a whole other rant.

That question requires further clarification IMO. If your only contact with the other person was online then I would say that anything you thought you felt was created by your subconscious. If, however, these was some degree of more personal contact via phone or Skype then yes, there's absolutely no reason that couldn't be taken to another level.
