At what point does a person's passionate personal opinion crossover into being judgmental? When he or she won't give roughly equal time and consideration to others' opinions.

In response to the title of your topic, "why are we here?" God created mankind (the "we" in your title) so there would be someone ("us") who could observe, understand (slowly, little by little), and appreciate all the rest that he created.
