I think anyone (M or F) who is serious about finding a real relationship reads the profiles. You need as much information as you can get. I wonder about the photo "matching" protocol. "Someone wants to meet you", but you have to ***** them (their photo) first. Today's batch of photos contained some that I recognize from commercial "adult" sites...what's with that?
