Cold with a lot more cold ahead. :) I hope you like your cold. Wow, so Berkeley to here huh? What on Earth has brought you to Utah, and why haven't you run away screaming? I'm not in Ogden by the way, but I'm super social, so I like saying hi.

I'm not, on the other side of the valley and a bit more north, but I figured I'd say hi anyway.

This place definitely has its ups and downs. Be prepared to be converted, or to at least have someone try. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it does get annoying from time to time. I'm not exaggerating, generally about every four to five blocks you can find an LDS church. They're a dime a dozen.
If you're a fan of going out and having a blast on the weekends, make sure you make friends who are into after parties, because the state in a way shuts down at 2am. There are a few good dance clubs downtown, some are within walking distance of each other, but they're nothing you haven't seen in other places. If you're an outdoors person, THIS IS THE PLACE - pun intended. You can be right in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City, then fifteen minutes later be in the mountains. If you're up for a four hour drive you can go see the red rock in Cedar City, and if you're willing to drive an hour more after that there are tons of natural parks to see. While you're here you should see the Salt Flats at least once. It's a strange environment. The symphony is relatively cheap. Around $15 - $25 a ticket. There's surprisingly quite a bit of good theater here, but if you're catching something at the Capitol Theater, be prepared to shell out a bit of money. If the nose-bleed section can be around $150 a ticket. I love Wise Guys in West Valley, which isn't too far from Salt Lake. It's a comedy club that has a good headliner nearly every weekend. $5 a ticket and you have to purchase a menu item which ranges from about $2+, so generally if you go cheap you'll be spending about $7. If you're into soccer, the Real (rey-al) pro team just had a stadium built in - what is that, Sandy? I'm not a big soccer fan so I don't know what tickets cost, but it is a nice stadium. If you're into football there's a huge deal about college football. There's a massive rivalry between the Utes and Cougars. It's not hard to know when a game is on, people in Salt Lake broadcast it by becoming a sea of red (the Utes main color). You have your general restaurants that you can find anywhere, but some of my favorites tend to get pricey. The Paris Bistro can get expensive fast and so can Market Street Grill. The service however is excellent and the food even better. They can offer really good wines. Speaking of dining, if you get a chance, and have some cash, head up to Park City. One of the coolest events they have is the Sundance Film Festival - it's HUGE. Superstars like Brad Pitt and especially Robert Redford are common faces. That should be coming up in a few months too. If you're into business too, this is a good place to get off the ground. Utah is crazy about helping out businesses with incentives and tax breaks. Many large corporations house their head quarters here because of it. There's also a lot of good business schools. I think that about sums it up for now, if you want to know anything more specific or have questions, give me a shout-out or send me a message. |

I live in South Salt Lake. Yep, it is its own city, just, uh, south, of salt lake. I'm here for the same reasons as Sandi, looking for a girl to have a good time with. You'd actually be surprised Shadow at how many girls here do like the ladies.

I just joined this craziness to hopefully find some new friends with sympathetic ears and peeps who will listen to me chat about anything and everything. My profile name isn't meant as an ego thing, it's what my little sister calls me, so it's more endearing than anything else.
I can't wait to explore this site! Cheers! |

Hmm, why do people lie? Fear of rejection for one. A registered sex offender, depending on what it was exactly, I'm sure doesn't have a lot to look forward to when it comes to love. A lot of it depends on the circumstances, but would you have had anything to do with him had you known from the beginning? Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying it's a good excuse or that anyone should ever lie, but maybe some insight might help you cope.
I however would walk away. Trust was shattered from the beginning because he made himself to be someone he wasn't, which is a HUGE RED FLAG, and no relationship can survive without trust. I'm sure this has left a scar, but I can attest to the fact that there are good guys out there, and they're worth the struggle. |
