Usually the "I really care about you, but I'm not ready for a relationship right now" speech is really saying: "you were my rebound, but now my ex wants to get back together with me. I'm gonna get with her, but give you a lame excuse in case things don't work out with her." I got that speech twice just when I thought things were going great, then later found out that both of them had gone back to their exes. I know how badly it hurts, but moving on is the best solution. Don't call him, don't text him, don't email him. If you do, then he will know that you are at his beck and call. I think it will drive him crazy that you aren't desperately trying to get him back.
