I have been in one long distance relationship and that lasted several years, I have to say it kind of does work in a way, but in another way it is not really good idea, because my girlfriend was in Syria, while I was stuck here in the states. And we where both miserable at times because we could not see each other and we would only get to see each other a few times every few years.
