Which religion is right?

That is a real toughie. First off, I'd eliminate the religions that have been invented within the last few millenia. If there is a true religion, it would have been revealed to man long ago.

Then I would examine the proofs and evidence for each particular religion.

I believe in christianity. It came about in the last 2000-odd years, but it was the completion of Judaism, which is much much older.

There is not a whole lot of solid archaeological evidence for Jesus, but there are records that mention him. However, the larger evidence for Jesus' existence comes from his disciples and how they died. All but John, the writer of Revelations, died horrific deaths by the hands of both the Romans and Jewish leaders, and there are records for them dating back to the time in which they occurred.

Now, if I die because I preach Jesus in an oppressive land, it doesn't make Jesus' story true -- it makes me a kook. I have never seen him.

But his disciples believed in him so much, that they turned from everything they had believed their entire lives as Jews. What they saw from Jesus was enough to convince them completely.

They knew they would die for teaching what they saw, but they did it anyways, because they knew they had seen God. They had nothing to gain, as many critics would have people believe, from preaching the gospel.

Even Paul, a Jewish lawyer, was a christian killer. He tracked them down and stoned them for heresy, but he turned around one day and decided to join them. He died by a Roman sword years later, gaining nothing worldly by what he had done.

The fact the apostles died for preaching a belief that never gained them anything worldly is one of the best evidences I've found.

I welcome discussion, and for people of other beliefs to share why they believe what they do ^^
