Windows7 has a nice little trick up its sleeve that im sure most of the techs will know about but thought worth mentioning anyway.

I find the quickest way to check the energy efficiency of a system, from Dos, is to do the following.

Start > Search; type; cmd

Right click on; Command Prompt > Run as Administrator.

A dos shell will open up,

Type: cd %userprofile%/Desktop (note the space between 'cd' and '%')

Then type: powercfg -energy (Note to space between 'g' and '-' ) then press Enter

Wait 60 seconds for doss to examine the system.

Dos will then display advisory finds...

Close down the dos shell and go to desktop nd look for a file called 'energy report.html'

I use this all the time to check-out the health of customers laptops.

Hope this helps.
