People can and do lie in their profiles so we shouldn't take what is written as gospel. How do you meet people in the real world? They are all strangers unless we say something to them, even if they offered no info about themselves. Sure they could be shy or a fake but we don't know until we exchange messages. It takes little effort to reply and if they are fake and you question why no info on the profile you will not get an answer.
