Ugh! I'm just over a 5 yr. relationship that sounds very similar to what you are going through. I think you are dealing with a person who doesn't even know what HE wants. Sometimes I thought that he really didn't want me but he didn't want anyone else to have me either. In the end I don't think it was that. In my case this guy, whom I loved and who I knew loved me on some level was just too fearful to make the kind of committment that comes from loving a person. He struggled between having his all important freedom and satisfying his heart. In the end I made the decision for him. I'm too old to play with someone who does not have the guts (and it does take guts) to love and be loved. Sadly he (and many people) didn't realize that good love gives much more freedom then it takes away.
