Going back to the subject, i still stand by this: Here is a very basic legal principle: "Your rights end where the rights of the other began". Their right to have their own prom ends when the right to not be discriminated or segregated of others begins.

your right, it's discrimination no matter how you look at it... but why would the gays want to be around a bunch of haters? they could each have their owns proms, without discriminating each other in the process... i wouldn't want to go to a gay prom, so why would they want to go to a straight prom?

Well I am not gay so I can not reply from a personal point of view, but if i had to theorize i would say that its because they are not discriminating people themselves.
In a generalizing approach i would say that Its ok to gather with similar people in certain circumstances...it simply is more practical but its not a principal to live by. As a society we should always aim to include others into our ranks. Specially in general interest events such as a prom.
Diversity helps us to understand each other better, gives us a wider view of the world thus makes us better as individuals and as a group.
Also, there is the pride issue, which is completely understandable. All humans want to be recognizes as equals regardless of accidental characteristics such as gender, sex orientation, or physical appearance.

society tells us that we have to accept, whether we want to or not. I personally don't agree with gays, but the government says i have to. and we are not all equal. our status, income, jobs are all not equal. most gays don't want equality, they want more. i should have the right to walk down the street and not see one guy leading another guy with leash connected to a a dog collar and nipple rings...

First mistake: "society" its not an alien thing... society is the group of individuals forming it and its inter dynamic interactions. Same with the government.

Second mistake: Yes, we are all equal...we are equal in our quality of "humans" thus we all deserve the same treatment and rights. Things like status, income and jobs are related to effort, luck, education and a lot of other things that are not intrinsically related to your human nature. So as you can see, are irrelevant to this conversation.

Third mistake: what you described has nothing to do with gay... that is sadomasochism and domination... it happens on straight relationships as well. And if you dont want to see it, all you have to do is watch the other way, close your window, change the street, etc. I could say that I dont like to see woman using short skirts or men using purple shirts...does that mean that they should not to do it just because i dont want to see it? I think not.

Again, the general principal puts in a simple way...Your right to not see things that you don't find pleasing ends when their right to dress up the way they want and to have what ever type of adult interaction they want (as long is between consenting adults on full use of reason) starts.

Here's the evidence. Men and women cannot be just friends.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=men-and-women-cant-be-just-friends&page=2

To start with, it is not a very serious scientific experiment...simply because the sample taken is too small to produced a general rule. 249 adults in 7,000,000,000 (approximate amount of humans in the planet as for right now) can not constitute a serious study.

Secondly, while there is conclusive evidence that would indicate that men are genetically conditioned to be more prone to have sex with as many mates as he can this is just a mere impulse... and urge if you will. Now if a man can not control his primal instincts then maybe he should move to the middle of the jungle, because he has no place in modern society.
I usually have the urge to kill people that say stupid ****...but i count to 10, i take a deep breath and i carry on. In order to function in society you control your self.

Thirdly, it also depends on how you define "friendship" that can be a very ambiguous and personal term. Not all people expect the same level of confidence and trust when it comes to friendship. Some people consider guys that hang around or that go out with you friends, while others would define a friend as someone that is willing to do anything for you.

Diana Medley is a special education teacher in town. She doesn't believe anyone is born gay.

"I believe that it was life circumstances and they chose to be that way; God created everyone equal," said Medley.

and she's a freaking teacher ??? shocked

i don't believe they are born gay either, but has nothing to do with a god...

Well, actually its a mix of things... there has to be a genetic pre disposition to be gay. In some cases that is all that is needed...so in many cases people ARE born gay, and that is fact, not a matter of believe. In some other cases the way someone is raise or certain life experiences can trigger the effect, but there has to be a pre existing genetic disposition....without it, those said life episodes would strike the individual in an other way, ergo... while they would leave a mark on the person but the resulting effect of said act will not be he becoming gay. That is also a fact.

Sadly, homophobia is still alive and well in some places.

i see that heterophobia is starting to kick in too...

Where do you see that?

do you only read 1 post on the forums at a time? do you read the whole forum, or just one or two posts on it?

You mentioned "heterophobia" kicking in and I asked you where. Is there a reason you can't be specific?

Perhaps you're talking about karieltheone's Napalm post? Yeah, that was uncalled for.

Hey hey don't get me into that one...lol I'm as straight as you can get so i doubt i could have heterophobia. I just have stupidity-phobia... So I am guessing i could not live in the town that the article mentions.

A team of Valley high schoolers and parents rally for a traditional prom that bans gays.

NBC 2's Paige Preusse reports how Sullivan High School says there's nothing legally they can do to allow it... several students and parents are taking matters into their own hands.

Several parents, students, and others who believe gays should be banned from the Sullivan High School prom met Sunday at the Sullivan First Christian Church.

"We don't agree with it and it's offensive to us," said Diana Medley.

Their idea is to create a separate...traditional prom.Students say there are several others from their high school who agree, but are afraid to take a stand.

"If we can get a good prom then we can convince more people to come and follow what they believe," said student Kynon Johnson.

And now they want everyone to know where they stand.

"We want to make the public see that we love the homosexuals, but we don't think it's right nor should it be accepted," said a local student.

But not all in the community think what they're doing is right.

"We shouldn't be condemning people, and that's what judgement is. Christ came to save the people not to condemn them."

Local man Jim Davis says we've all sinned...so why should gays be treated with less respect?

"Love them as a person. You don't have to love what they do, because the gays may not love all the mistakes you make," said Davis.

Diana Medley is a special education teacher in town. She doesn't believe anyone is born gay.

"I believe that it was life circumstances and they chose to be that way; God created everyone equal," said Medley.

"Homosexual students come to me with their problems, and I don't agree with them, but I care about them. It's the same thing with my special needs kids, I think God puts everyone in our lives for a reason," said Madley.

"'So the same goes for gays? Do you think they have a purpose in life?' No I honestly don't. Sorry, but I don't. I don't understand it. A gay person isn't going to come up and make some change unless it's to realize that it was a choice and they're choosing God," said Medley.

Several local pastors support the separate prom movement.

"Christians have always been prepared for a fight. Jesus gave us armor for the front, not the back; we're not running anymore," said Bill Phegley with Carlisle Church.

Others, on the other hand, think they're casting stones... instead of spreading love.

"The feeling of being loved and belonging is universal," said Davis.

WTF did i just read... please someone tell me this is fake lol.
If not, my advise would be just to surround the town with tanks, to make sure that none except the gay people living there can leave...and then burn the entire thing with Napalm...including the people. They are just a waste of oxygen and they should not be allowed to pass their genes to a future generation. lol

are you insane?

Insanity is nothing more than Geniality without the success attached to it, so...maybe? ;)
And no, I was joking...i didn't mean it literally. I used a mix of satire, exaggeration, a little touch of sarcasm and absurd to make my point across... because that is how smart people make humor and express an idea at the same time. You just have to read between the lines :P

i c... just like any other group, besides whites, they can have their own prom, and have just as much fun... while i don't believe in religion, i think they should have the right to agree or disagree with whatever they want, without having to be napalmed by tanks...

Ok, I can not reply based on personal experience regarding why woman cut their hair simply because I am not one lol but I can approach the subject from a scientific / sociological analysis.
While what you stated, TexasScoundrel, it is true: long healthy hair it is a desirable feature in woman from an evolutionary point of view. Assuming that those features have a decisive impact on a man's choice when it comes to partners would be to underestimate greatly how human Psyche its build. Yes, it is undeniable that our brains are full of preconceptions created to identify better partners but at the end, in modern day society, they are nothing more that evolutionary left overs... much like the wisdom teeth. What i am trying to say is that while it is undeniable that a clear skin, good looking long hair, a good proportion in the hips, etc. have an subconscious impact on how a man chooses his partner, that impact is lower as we become more evolved as individuals and as society. Humans have evolve (socially) to a point that has never been reach by any other animal previously... and certainly physical features that evokes a sense of better chance of survive in a hostile environment are far less influential than lets say, the fact that she has a good personality, a good job and you two share the same hobbies... Unless of course you are a very primal instinct based male... but at that point i would have to ask woman, why do they choose to date a clearly less evolve specimen of man hahaha, which happens...i mean, Red Necks still get laid, right? and they are barely human hahahaha.
On the same sense, TexasSxcoundrel, you would have to ask why some man decide not to exercise? When its obvious that a body in good shape indicates to females, from an evolutionary point of view, that the male has better chance of provide through hunting, and better chance to fight aggressors while protecting the family / pack. Yet you still see a great number of skinny and chubby / fat guys that get laid... why? simply because that type of things have cease to be of vital importance in modern world.

I'm not saying long hair is the only thing. Obviously it's only a tiny part of a woman's overall ability to attract.

What I'm asking is;

If a woman knows cutting her hair short will make her less attractive to men (in general), is she saying no to men by cutting her hair? Is she making a conscious effort to become less attractive?

LoL i don't want to go over this again hahaha, what i originally replied already answer your question in its full, you just have to consciously read it.
But to keep it short and simple: Question: "Is she making a conscious effort to become less attractive?" / Answer: "no".

When stressed, do you experience any physical symptoms?

Sometimes, when I'm stressed, my lips swell.

When I am stress for long periods of time my hair falls a lot faster, i get cold sweat in hands and feet and the skin in my lips gets dry. I also experience difficulty to sleep and lack of appetite.

karieltheone's photo

some women actaully look very nice with shorter hair and like to style it. Personally I think short hair is too high maintenance.

but most of us have outgrown the gene evolution that says we must look nice for men. We look nice for ourselves

so it's about time that men outgrow the likes long hair gene seems, once againm a little high school....jmho

also perhaps (probably) some of us are interested in men who care more about what we are like on the inside

So, if men don't like it, forget men. The problem with it is that we don't out grow our genetic programming for a very long time. Like thousands of years. The reality is that men are generally attracted to certain physical characteristics. Long hair, a hip to waist ratio of 1 to 0.7, firm breasts, clear eyes, blemish free skin.

Your philosophy on this matter equals ideology over reality. You seem to think you can attract a man no matter how ugly you make yourself. But, are the men you attract the kind you'd want to get involved with?

I know a woman. She's smart, funny, socially gregarious and has a good job. But, she also weighs almost 400 pounds. She can't get a man to sleep with her unless she pays him. Now, is this the fault of men?

Seeing as there are many women out there with shorter hair who have boyfriends and husbands, it seems to be fine with many men. Why should women have to cater to the desires you say men have when clearly there are men who are attracted to women with shorter hair as well?

GENERALLY! I'm speaking in general terms. As I've already said, the fact that there are exceptions to the rule doesn't mean the rule is untrue.

If you took a photo of twin women, one with long hair and the other with short, more men are going to prefer the one with long hair.

To me it is just one of those weird American celebrations that i do not get...like Halloween and Thanksgiving. Still i bought a box of chocolate to my wife... "If you are in Rome..." lol

None of those days are just celebrated in America. Canada has a Thanksgiving, too. Several other countries celebrate both Valentine's day and Halloween.

I am pretty sure that Canada's Thanksgiving it is on a different date and for a completely different reason, since Canada and USA have a completely different colonial background. As for Valentine's day and Halloween, while it is true that they are celebrations really old (with origins that can be traced down to Pagan Rome and Celtics rites) and that are not related to the new world in any way; they were not a very popular thing around the world. They have their peak in the USA. Over the past 100 years more countries have started to celebrate them due to USA's influence in Pop culture...thus it is widely perceived and an "American thing", specially in countries of non Anglo-Saxon origin.

Yes; our Thanksgiving is in October instead of November like the Americans. The whole point that Sing was saying is that holidays like Christmas, Valentine's, Halloween aren't strictly American Holidays as other countries recognize them too.

LoL, non of you two got my point... I was simply saying that Valentine's Day is silly, for some weird reason Sing decided to focus her attention in the fact that I drop "American" there. On my second post I clarify that I know that their not American celebrations, and I explained why I decided use that word and I also explained why her example of Canadian Thanksgiving was not valid. Again, while they have the same name they are completely 2 different celebrations.
Going back to my point....Valentine's day is retarded... Im going to start promoting the celebration of Lupercalia, the original celebration in which the Catholic one was created. Now that was fun... Romans, they did know how to party LOL.

Well, I think Christmas is retarded. It promotes greed and glutenay, people fighting over parking spots, depression, and stresses people out; yet everyone seems okay with it. Funny how everyone hates a day that celebrates love but yet would celebrate a day of greed and glutenay.

Agreed about Xmas... I hate the damn thing xD

Hi

Recently I removed a photo from mingle2.com but it is still appearing under Google search under JackeenGirls Profile in Google Results.
This is not my profile, and I would appreciate if it would be removed.

Gemma

I am not an expert int the subject but i think that it is probably stored on one of google's servers... pretty sure it has nothing to do with the site. If something is erased from a site but it appears in google images, it may stay there until they reset their servers.

Are there particular people you won't date?

I.E. catholics, mormons, seventh-day adventists, smokers, drug users, etc?

Is there a particular reason this is a "deal breaker" for you that is not so obvious?

Other than the usual no druggies, I don't think I would go good with someone in a highly organized religion like catholicism. I don't believe in their precepts and don't know how I would handle it.

What if your heart pulls you there?

If i was back in the dating game i think i would avoid all obsessive behavior, I think that I'm a tolerant man, i don't care if you use drugs or drink or if you are religious... as long as you don't over do it. If you need to smoke marijuana or shot cocaine ever day, if every time you go out you need to drink to the point to get wasted in order to have fun or if you need to go to church X amount of days of the week or read any sort of holy book everyday before going to bed (no matter which religion)... yeah, you would not be the girl for me.
