I just got my 2 1/2 year old grandson potty trained (my son and daughter-in-law are in the Air Force and were deployed at the same time so I have the kids). This is what I did, it may work for you and it may not, depends on the child. I didn't let him tell me he had to go potty. I told him "let's go make bubbles in the potty". As he went it would make bubbles. I took him in every hour to hour and a half. I also took him out of the pull ups and put him in old fashioned training pants! When they have pull ups on they can't feel that they are wet! (I did put them on at nap time and bed time to keep down on messes during sleep.) Make sure they go potty before nap time and bedtime and then as soon as they get up. My grandson likes lollipops, so as a reward, when he goes "poop" he gets a sucker. One thing that I did also was sit him on the potty backwards, facing the tank on the toilet. They have to straddle the seat but they feel a little more secure. They have the lid to hold onto. Just make sure to wash their little hands when they are done. Gook luck to you...potty training is not fun and very time consuming, but it has to be done.
