I'm not hard core. I expect that if a person expresses interest, that they actually do so. It's insulting to get a generic message with no thought put into it.

It's insulting that a person can't take the time, on dating sites, to read a profile and send a personalized message. The fact that you seem not to understand why that is insulting makes it more clear why you aren't getting replies. Until you understand your mails are insulting the recipients....

Maybe your cologne comes on too strong? Maybe its your tupperware body armour?

I do the same, a simple thank you note with nothing leading to suggest another email.

I was also raised that rudeness in any form wasn't acceptable w/o provocation. Where some would then say that your email to someone would have been provocation enough. So just let it be, don't take it too personal.

Yes, I go out on dates at least monthly. With folks who write actual sentences and don't use mails like messenger...

How about a comment about their profile, introducing yourself, telling them why are you writing...

If I get 'hey how are you' I think wow, how impressive. NOT. It is impersonal, generic, and honestly it's insulting.

from what I've seen after a few years on these sites most women receive a zillion "breaking the ice" emails every day saying "hi sexy" or something as imaginative

if you wanna be noticed you have to stand out and above the crowd of salivating hormone driven males

I just got two interesting mails. One was a cut and paste of his profile. I thanked him for sending me such a touching and personalized message. The other said 'hey how are you'. That one I reminded him this wasn't messenger and suggested he try someone else, as I preferred someone take the time to write me paragraph or at least several personalized punctuated sentences. Sigh. That seems a tall order.

I think I hear people whine and moan about mails all the time. But they never explain what it is they are sending, only that they get no reply. First of all, how do you know the person is still active on the site? Do you want them to reply to say go away? What type of mails are you sending?

Anyone that looks at me, I send a friendly note, I figure I have done the right thing, if they choose not to respond, thats on them!

I get tons of emails from people that I don't reply to... I think it depends on what you say in your email. I don't think it's rude of me to not reply when I didn't ask them to send me a "hey baby nice lips" message in the first place.

I don't think it should matter- I get unsolicited emails all the time and I respond to each of them

Even if you aren't interested in someone I believe you should show them enough respect and respond to their contact- They took the time to contact you.
