And to the haters that claim that I can't do it or my pursues to a doctoral degree won't matter. Tanya I don't understand this. Some staff at internship that wanted to tell me that I wouldn't get anywhere with a PhD and that I would only be able to get a job with a MSW. So it was addressed to the 'hater' at internship. (burn out, uncompassionate social work) I hope that clears it up for you! Most likely, they meant that PhD's in Social Work do a lot of teaching and research work, while DSWs tend to also teach and work in Administrative or Policy Areas. MSWs or LCSWs, to my understanding, do most of the "hands-on" Clinical Social Work, or Psychotherapy. Is that what they meant, do you think? |
