that was such a warm reception. you people are beautiful. vancouver b.c. here. another day of sunshine and tomorrow is more with this end of summer hot streak. it's nice and very fitting that the kids are going back to school in this heat but really the heat is nothing out here in comparison. hope your days go well and you're firing on all pistons haha. did you know a polar bear can smell a seal (it's favorite meal) from 37 miles away. polar bears and dogs should work together to take over the world.

"

dog can hear sounds from over 440 yards (402 meters) away.

.As dog's ears are able to move in different directions, it is easier for dogs to pinpoint the exact location of a sound's origin.

The frequencies that dogs can perceive and hear are almost twice that of humans and they can pick up and distinguish sounds at roughly 4 times the range of humans.

For example a sound that you can hear at 20 meters a dog can detect pinpoint and interpret at 80 meters.

Dogs have specially designed inner ears that allow them to have this incredible ability and their ears operate almost like radars. Not only do dogs hear the sounds but also perceive the height and depth of the sounds that they hear.

Dogs also have the ability to hear ultra high frequencies that humans cannot.

Of all a dog's senses, its sense of smell is the most highly developed. Dogs have about 25 times more olfactory (smell) receptors than humans do. These receptors occur in special sniffing cells deep in a dog's snout and are what allow a dog to "out-smell" humans.

Dogs can sense odors at concentrations nearly 100 million times lower than humans can.

They can detect one drop of blood in five quarts of water! Sniffing the bare sidewalk may seem crazy, but it yields a wealth of information to your dog, whether it's the scent of the poodle next door or a whiff of the bacon sandwich someone dropped last week.

Trained sniffer dogs like those used by police etc are even better!

A sniffer dog's sense of smell is 2000 times more sensitive than that of humans. They can even detect things (blood, etc.) that have been left for as long as 10 years. They can detect blood even if it has been scrubbed off surfaces. In one case recently a sniffer dog sniffed a drop of blood on the wall that had been attempted to be scrubbed off. It was so small that it couldn't be seen without a microscope."
