I missed Respect... in each of the stages!!! Please append!!!

The women I know want different things at different times.

First: Unconditional Love, Appreciation (of beauty, smartness etc), Basic security (A strong shoulder to lean on, enough to lead a peaceful life).
Once they are assured of it,
Second: Total commitment, higher attention (and within her influence), support in day to day affairs
Once they are assured of it,
Third: Dedication (priority attention to her), a place in society (however small a circle she has), Availability (to relieve her of her hassles)
Once they are assured of it,
Fourth: The man at her command (no illusions here), Pampered life, A Queen in her own right.

The timelines may be different, but the progression of the women from a loving romantic to a superconfident boss does happen. The men who accommodate the women at their every stage of life will have a wonderful life. It may not be an erosion of a man's authority, but sharing of what was due to her at various stages of life.
