I've posted variations of my profile on different sites, like yahoo, match, and craigslist, for the past 5 or so years. Even became a paid member so I could message people. In that time, I would say ~3% of the people I contacted would reply, including spam bots. Nobody contacted me first, except for spammers, which is what got me to be a paid member in the first place; to read their message, or lack thereof. Never once did I get an Ice Breaker or other free mechanism that sites offer.

I think my profile sounds pretty respectful and reasonable. I use half decent grammar, spell check, don't type like a teenager on a cell phone, and address the things that any family minded person seeking a long-term relationship would theoretically consider good qualities.

I just don't get it... I know I'm not Brad Pitt, but I'm no Michael Moore either. Maybe a Chevy Chase? Just a regular guy, with lots of life experience, decent manners, and typical morals, that wants a traditional relationship. Do people not want that anymore?
