i don't agree with the middle ground bit. Of course there are degrees. Compare scenario 1, where someone goes out and shoots people because of their race, and scenario 2 where someone jumps to the aid of someone a little quicker because they look and sound more like them....both by definition are acts of racism. Clearly different ball park.
