So, Buddy is praying to God that he could experience going out on dates. Day afer day, week after week, he prayed to God to help him get a date, withe no results. Buddy's praying became so constant, & sincere & DESPERATE that God actually spoke to him. God said "Why don't you meet me half way & ask somone out".
