i don't know how to fix it, but i have had a similar problem with my dell inspirion 9100 since i bought it...the battery never would hold a charge and i too have to plug it into an outlet all the time. mine has been acting funny too....i think it might die as well.

i will let you know if i can figure out what is wrong....and how to fix it...
