Since you are new, a few tips: filters, and stealth mode.
The filters let you limit by age and distance, and on pc app, also lets you exclude people looking for 'intimate encounter'. Quite useful for you and for us. Narrows the field. An a gentleman will respect your filters. Only if I am within a few miles, say 206 miles and they have 'within 100 miles', will I potentially even send a friend request, and I will clearly state why. If they don't, don't bother with them.
Stealth mode comes in very handy, because if the robots and scammers don't see you 'online', they move on. They are n a hurry before they are caught and blocked. We are not. Real people understand that other real people check periodically, possibly days apart. After all, life goes on. Work, kids, whatever.
